Gets Rid of Fat that Other Procedures Can’t with ThermiSmooth Body

Have you wanted to change your body or decrease the appearance of cellulite? Well, Weston Medical Clinic & Cosmetic Center, Phanor Calle, MD, offers Thermismooth Body, a treatment that contours the body and helps lessen the look of cellulite! In addition, Weston Medical Clinic offers ThermiSmooth Body Thermi250, which can help you get the body you have been seeking.

What is the ThermiSmooth Body Cellulite?

ThermiSmooth Body Cellulite is a Body Contouring with a revolutionary non-invasive aesthetic Radio Frequency (RF) device that tightens skin, recontours the face and body, and reduces cellulite (Orange Peel) and fatty tissue.

The treatment method is simple, comfortable, and pain-free. It can even be done during your lunch hour, and you may return to work immediately following the treatment.

After significant weight loss, body contouring improves the shape and tone of your underlying tissue that supports fat or adipose tissue and skin and removes excess sagging fat and skin.

Following weight reduction surgery, or any substantial amount of weight loss, the skin and tissues often lack elasticity and cannot conform to the reduced body size. As a result, skin severely stretched now is unsupported:

  • As a result, upper arms may sag and appear loose.
  • The abdominal area may extend around the sides and into the lower back, resulting in an apron-like overhang.
  • Buttocks, groin, and thighs can sag and cause hanging pockets of skin.

How does ThermiSmooth Body work?

Like the ThermiSmooth® Face treatment, the ThermiSmooth® 250 electrode requires a specific target temperature (i.e., 43C-45C). The electrode is gently moved sweepingly or circularly while gradually heating the skin surface. The radiofrequency output automatically adjusts to ensure heating precision as the skin’s temperature rises to the target temperature.

The targeted zone is treated for approximately a few minutes to achieve the clinical goal. The first device of its kind, the ThermiSmooth® 250, is a unique, Radio Frequency (RF) based platform for the non-invasive ThermiSmooth Body treatment of wrinkles, rhytides, and the temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite that is virtually painless.

ThermiSmooth® 250 combines two radio frequency modes – BiPolar and Monopolar using separate headpieces that provide therapeutic heat at different tissue depths within the body.

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is a condition where the skin appears to have underlying fat deposits, giving it a dimpled, lumpy appearance. It is most noticeable on the buttocks and thighs and usually occurs after puberty. Although cellulite can affect both sexes, it is much more common in females because they are more likely to have particular fat and connective tissue types.

What Causes Cellulite?

The causes of cellulite are not well understood. Among the Theories implicated are:

  • Hormonal factors – hormones likely play an important role in cellulite development. Many believe estrogen, insulin, noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, and prolactin are part of cellulite production.
  • Genetics–specific genes for cellulite development. Genes may predispose an individual to particular characteristics associated with cellulite, such as gender, race, slow metabolism, distribution of fat just underneath the skin, and circulatory insufficiency.
  • Diet – People who overeat fat, carbohydrates, salt, and too little fiber are likely to have more significant amounts of cellulite.
  • Lifestyle factors – Cellulite may be more prevalent in smokers, those who do not exercise, and those who sit or stand in one position for long periods.
  • Clothing – underwear with tight elastic across the buttocks (limiting blood flow) may contribute to cellulite formation.

How can cellulite be prevented?

Eating healthy, low-fat foods such as fruits, vegetables, and fiber can help avoid cellulite. Similarly, exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, and reducing stress are recommended to prevent cellulite. In addition, wearing thongs, boy shorts, or looser fitting undergarments can prevent cellulite that might form due to tight elastic.

What should you Expect?

During your consultation, Dr. Phanor Calle at Weston Medical Clinic and Cosmetic Center will review your medical history and treatment goals. Treatment options, including risks and benefits, will be discussed in detail. Photos may also be necessary. We also ask that you bring a list of medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements you take, along with dosages.

How does it work?

RF Heat generates a focused wound healing response that realigns and regenerates collagen in your skin, replacing aging, sagging skin with a fresher, younger skin (a form of Collagen induction therapy).

The Monopolar handpiece allows deep controlled penetration of RF energy and treats cellulite symptoms by three main mechanisms:

  • Tightening of the underlying tissues causes the production of new collagen and the remodeling of collagen.
  • Increased blood circulation to the area treated and drainage of the fatty deposits to the lymphatic system.
  • Fatty acid decomposition or breakdown and heat-induced fat cell death.

Will you lose weight with ThermiSmooth Body Thermi250?

It is important to note that although ThermiSmooth® 250 can lead to superficial and volumetric changes in your tissues and, therefore, a reduction of size in a given area, ThermiSmooth® 250 is not a weight-loss program, and it will not significantly alter your weight.

How many treatments will you need?

The number of collagen-stimulating treatments can vary depending on the severity of the condition being treated. Although you may begin to see slight improvements after a couple of treatments, at least 6-8 treatments, spaced 1 to 3 weeks apart, are recommended to achieve optimum results.

How long is the treatment?

Generally, treatments take about 30-60 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated.

How do you prepare for the procedure?

Your skin should be clean and dry, free of makeup, creams, oils, or other skin products. The treatment should not be exposed to sunlight, tanning booths, or self-tanning products for two weeks before treatment.

Is there any downtime or side effects?

Generally speaking, this treatment has no downtime, and you can return to your normal activities the same day. However, you may find the skin appears pink or red, which should subside within 2-4 hours; however, this is generally relatively mild.

Depending on the area treated, you may experience mild “achiness,” similar to a muscle ache after a workout; it should resolve in 2-3 days. If it does not, please contact our office.

What Is the Post-treatment Routine?

We recommend that you drink at least 8-10 cups of water for the first three days following the treatment.

To avoid overheating the treated skin tissue at depth, you should not wash the treated area with hot water for 24 hours and avoid hot baths or saunas for three days after the treatment.

For the same reason, avoid excessive exercise a couple of days after the treatment, as this can increase your skin temperature.

How long does it last?

Due to the aging process and various other factors such as genetics, diet, smoking, sun exposure, alcohol consumption, etc., ongoing maintenance is required more frequently for older people and those with poor skin quality. In addition, sun protection and other proper skin treatments will also help maintain skin tautness.

For body contouring applications, the improvement in skin quality is long-lasting, similar to the results of facial tightening; however, keeping the body contours in check is also subject to a person’s diet, calorie intake, exercise, and lifestyle. Furthermore, as we age and lose elasticity in our skin, diet and exercise significantly impact our bodies. Therefore, regular exercise and a balanced diet are crucial to maintaining cellulite and fat reduction improvements and keeping our body contours in good shape.

Can anyone be treated?

There are few medical reasons why patients should not undergo this treatment as long as they are generally healthy and don’t have any skin diseases or infections in the area treated.

Although there is no proof that this treatment could harm pregnant women, we suggest you come in after the pregnancy.

Anyone with electrical devices in their body, such as pacemakers, should also not be treated. People with metal implants or metal joint replacements should not have treatments over these areas.

Also, it is advisable not to have treatment in an area recently treated with dermal filler products, such as hyaluronic acid, for at least a month.
